Getting started
Getting started with HyperPrompt
Go from a new account to a saved, versioned prompt in the HyperPrompt web app. Everything on this page works on the Free plan unless a step says otherwise.

- You need
- An email address you can open, and a desktop browser.
- Plan
- Free. Free accounts include 5 AI enhancements per month.
- Time
- A few minutes, plus waiting for the verification email.
- Result
- A private prompt in your library with a version history.
1. Create and verify your account
- Go to
hyperpromptai.com/signup. The page heading is Create your free account. - Fill in Name, Email, and Password. The password must be at least 8 characters.
- Select Create account. You are taken to a Check your inbox page that shows the address the link was sent to.
- Open the verification email and follow the link. The link expires in one hour.
- When you see Your email is verified. Your account is ready., select Continue. You land in the Editor at
/app.
Expected result: you are signed in and the app navigation shows Editor, Library, Context, History, Evals, and Teams.
Optional: the in-app checklist
Open your account menu (your initial, top right) and choose Getting started. The Launch checklist tracks five steps: create your first prompt, add reusable project context, build an evaluation suite, create or join a workspace, and connect an integration. The last three show Upgrade on the Free plan. Select Finish onboarding when you are done.
2. Enhance your first prompt
- Open Editor. Make sure Prompts is selected in the switcher at the top right (the other options are Rules and Skills).
- Type or paste a rough prompt into the Input panel (placeholder: Enter your prompt here...). The badge shows an approximate token count.
- Choose a mode in the dropdown under the input: Improve or Refine. Skills also offer Document.
- Select Enhance prompt. The button reads Enhancing... while the request runs.
Expected result: the rewritten prompt appears in the Output panel with a token count. Use the copy icon or Download enhanced content (saves a .txt file for prompts, .md for rules and skills). Prompt enhancements are also recorded on the History page.
For Rules, pick a Tool / IDE (Cursor, Windsurf, Gemini, Claude, Kiro, or Copilot) and an optional Title. For Skills, set Name, Version, and Category.
Your text is sent for processing
Selecting Enhance prompt sends the input to HyperPrompt’s AI service. Each enhancement counts toward your plan’s allowance, including requests made from the Chrome extension.
3. Save and reuse prompts
- After an enhancement, select Save to Library under the output. It changes to Saved.
- Open Library. You land on the Prompts Library; the tabs above the list switch to Rules, Skills, and MCPs.
- Find the prompt with Search library... (matches title and description), the All folders filter, and the Favorites and Public toggles.
- Use the copy icon to copy the prompt text, or open the item’s actions menu for Edit & versions, Make Public / Make Private, Share (public items only), Download, and Delete.
What gets saved: the enhanced text, saved as a private prompt. The title is your Title field if you set one (rules and skills), otherwise the first line of your input (up to 80 characters). The description is set to “Created in the HyperPrompt editor” and the category to general; you can change all of these in Edit & versions.
Organize with folders
On the Prompts library, select Folder and enter a name to create a personal folder. Assign a prompt to it from Edit & versions using Personal folder.
Public versus private
Saved prompts start private. Make Public publishes a prompt to the public directory at /prompts; Make Private removes it. Prompts that belong to a team workspace cannot be made public. See the prompt library overview for how the private library differs from the public directory.
4. Save, compare, and restore prompt versions
Every saved prompt has a version history. The first version is created when the prompt is saved; each later save adds a new version, and restoring an old version also adds a new version rather than deleting anything. The pricing page lists “Prompt versions and rollback” under Pro. Background on why versioning matters is on the prompt versioning page.
Save a new version
- In the Prompts library, open the actions menu on a prompt and choose Edit & versions. The page heading is Edit prompt.
- Change the Working draft: Title, Category, Description, Prompt, Tags, Models, Technologies, IDEs, folder, and the Keep as draft and Public switches. List fields are comma separated.
- Optionally describe the change in What changed? (up to 300 characters).
- Select Save new version.
Expected result: a confirmation such as Saved version 2. appears, and the new entry is at the top of Version history with your note (or “Saved change”) and a timestamp. A check mark marks the current version.
Compare a version
- Select any entry in Version history.
- A Compare version N panel opens below the form, showing Selected version and Current draft side by side. Lines that differ are highlighted.
The comparison is line by line against your unsaved working draft, so you can compare before you save.
Restore a version
- Select the version in Version history, then select Restore in the comparison panel. (Restore is disabled for the current version.)
- Confirm the dialog: “Restore version N? Your current prompt will remain in history.”
Expected result: Version N restored as a new version. The restored content becomes the next version number, with the note “Restored version N”.
Try variables
Placeholders written as {{name}} or [UPPER_CASE] are detected automatically. A Try variables panel lets you fill them in and preview the result without saving.
Limits
The version list shows the 100 most recent versions. In a team workspace, viewers see Review prompt and a disabled Viewer access button instead of Save new version. See Team workspaces for review status rules.
5. Chrome extension
The HyperPrompt Chrome extension brings enhancement and your private library into supported AI sites. Its Chrome Web Store release is in progress, so there is no public install step yet. Check the extension page for availability.
When it is available, connecting is done at /extension/connect with Connect Chrome extension. This creates an extension-only key that you can revoke and that cannot access billing or account settings. You do not need to create an API key for the extension.
6. Free plan limits and when to upgrade
| Capability | Free | Pro | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI enhancements | 5 per calendar month (UTC) | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Enhancement history | Last 10 entries | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Private library, folders, import | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Prompt versions and rollback | Not listed in the Free plan | Yes | Yes |
| Evaluations (running models) | No | Yes | Yes |
| API keys and JSON account export | No | Yes | Yes |
| Shared team workspace | No | No | Yes, 3 seats included |
Separately from the monthly allowance, every account can make up to 10 AI requests per minute (enhancements and evaluation calls combined). See pricing for current prices.
Troubleshooting
- “Password must be at least 8 characters” or “Please fill in all fields”: fix the sign-up form and try again.
- “That verification link is invalid or expired. Request a new one.”: on the Check your inbox page, select Resend verification email. Links expire after one hour.
- “Verify your email before using HyperPrompt”: your email is not verified yet, so app features and API calls are blocked until you verify.
- Upgrade to Pro dialog: “You’ve used all your free generations this month.”: the Free allowance of 5 enhancements is used up. It resets at the start of the next calendar month (UTC), or you can upgrade.
- “Too many enhancement requests; try again in a minute”: you hit the 10-requests-per-minute limit.
- “AI enhancement is temporarily unavailable. Your free usage was not charged; please retry.”: the AI provider failed. The request did not count against your allowance.
- Save to Library shows an error: the message comes from the server (for example, “Too many submissions; try again later” after 20 new prompts, rules, skills, or MCP entries within an hour). Your output stays in the panel, so you can retry.
Next: run an evaluation, set up a team workspace, or browse all docs.
